Personal Statement
My name is Peter and I live with my parents and brother Frederick in a town called Southport in the UK. I am 16 years old and will leave the equivalent of high school next summer, June 2024. Upon leaving high school I intend to study economics at university/college and am looking to study at a school where I can continue my swimming. Looking to go to school in the US is an obvious fit for me as it affords me the best education whilst swimming at a high level. I am ambitious and determined to succeed in attaining this goal.
In terms of my swimming I train in the pool six days a week and typically go to the gym for land training on my "off day" as well as at other times in the week. I compete at a national level in breaststroke and represent the City of Liverpool at 50m, 100m and 200m. Last year I won a silver medal at the English national summer championships. I really enjoy being a part of the City of Liverpool club and, although you swim as an individual, I see swimming as a real team sport. There is tremendous camaraderie amongst the group and I enjoy mentoring younger swimmers to help them feel included.
At school I am studying Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry A Level. It is anticipated that I will get straight A grades. As part of my role as a senior prefect at school I have organised sports days for children at various junior schools, I helped younger children who were struggling with their work at the after school homework club and I have just volunteered to spend time working at the local hospital in Southport.
