Denis Kalinin '22 Recruiting Profile

Hi, I'm Denis Kalinin and I attend Walter Johnson High School in Bethesda, Maryland. I will be graduating in 2022. Swimming on the college level,  I'm looking for a team that is very social, tight-knit, hardworking, and will push me by challenging myself and my teammates. I want to be a part of a team in which I can create memories that I can happily reminisce on when I am older. I would be a great candidate for a team considering I strive off of hard work, can swim multiple events, and am motivated both athletically and academically.

I first started swimming when I was 8 and have been swimming on a summer league team for 6 years. I started swimming on a club team in 4th grade. Since then I have dropped much time, been to many meets, and definitely come a long way in both technique and skill. At Walter Johnson High School, I am on the Varsity team every year and have made it to Counties, Regionals, and States (West Region-4A3A) as a freshman and sophomore. Although my Junior season at Walter Johnson has been canceled due to COVID-19, I am actively swimming with Rockville Montgomery Swim Club 7 days a week and I attend physical strengthening classes multiple times a week. I have worked as a swim coach at my summer swim team, Rockville Rays and I have also worked as a swim coach for FINS. I challenge myself with Honors classes and AP classes.

I look forward to talking to college coaches and learning more about the opportunities that schools have to offer, along with getting to know the coaches and their coaching styles, attitudes towards their athletes.
