My name is Andrew Smith and I joined my high school swim team my freshman year. I was new to swimming but found that my teammates and my coach were encouraging. This led me to a successful first year and I was hooked. Friends and fitness are both very important to me, and by being part of my Varsity team I am able to have both. I like being competitive, training hard, learning new ways to improve in the water, and working with my coaches to set goals. I also enjoy talking with my teammates and encourage them to do their best. They do the same for me.
I worked very hard last season on my goal of getting my state cut for the 100 breast. I am proud to say that I did it. I am looking forward to a great swim season and a repeat of that state cut! Being on the Club team has helped me to maintain my fitness level prior to the season starting. I have already seen improvements because of this.
In addition to swim, I am on the varsity track team and cross country team and like to compete in individual and relay events. I am on the build team for the high school robotics team. We are a competitive team and I enjoy working with our mentors.
At the age of 15, I earned my Eagle Scout rank. This was a goal that I had for several years and I am so proud to have achieved this rank. Learning about leadership, teamwork and individual responsibilities will continue to help me throughout my life. I believe it has helped me have the drive to give my all in practice.
I work hard in the classroom. I take honors courses as well as an AP class. I want to do my best so that I can maintain a high GPA. I am currently interested in a Education/ Teaching program as I would love to possibly work with kids and be a coach in the future
I am looking for a college team that will push me in training so that I can continue to see improvement in the water. I want to work hard at the college level both in the class and in the pool.
