Personal Statement
During the 2012 summer Olympics I found my calling. I knew after watching the swimming events that that was what I wanted to do.
The following summer my mom signed me up for summer league and I was hooked. I moved to a USA Swimming club a year later. I love the water, it’s my place. I thrive on tough sets and tough coaches. I am my own biggest critic.
My parents bought a house last year that has a 25 meter lap lane as part of the pool. During quarantine I had my coach send me sets and practiced at my home. I feel incomplete when I’m not working on my swimming. The only time I was kicked out of practice was because my coach could see I was sick. I was later seen at the ER and diagnosed with appendicitis.
The water, my coaches, and my teammates are like family. I want more than anything to continue to swim in college and to continue to improve.
I was unable to compete in the Sunkissed Invitational in March 2019 due to my appendectomy. Covid-19 kept me from being able to compete in the 2020 Sunkissed Invitational.
I have attended training camps at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill twice and at the US Naval Academy.
I would like to study in a bio/medical field, possibly as a sports trainer.
I volunteered for two years as a junior swim coach (unpaid) for the Brace YMCA.
Swim is my grounding force. I want nothing more than to continue training and growing in swim at the collegiate level.
