Heading into my junior year, I am really looking forward to visiting colleges and starting to explore my options. My main goal this year is to make NCSAs in the 100 back. But I'm also eager to work on other strokes and see what I can do, and support my team in relays.
Swimming; the training, friendships, and discipline required; has become such an integral part of who I am. I have been swimming since age 10. My love for the sport has only grown since then and I truly believe that I see a future in swimming at the college level.
I've learned so much from being on the swim team about communication, working with others, and leadership. I can bring people together by organizing activities and love to put myself out there and meet new people. Being comfortable in uncomfortable situations is where I thrive. In the pool, and out, I have learned that mistakes benefit you in the long run. I am a hard worker and love to push myself. Goals are very important to me, but I also understand that everyone sometimes has off days.
One of my strengths is lifting others up. Both in the pool and other parts of my life, I try my best to put on a smile and help make everyone's day a little better. School is also very important to me; I have a love of learning and I'm curious about so much. Writing, especially, is something that I love; taking ideas and thoughts and crafting essays and stories helps me understand myself and the world.
Balancing swimming with friends, work, family and school can be tough, but I know that if I can just stay focused I'll achieve my goals. Though it can be painful to get in a cold pool at 6 am in February in Vermont, I know that it's pushing through moments like that that can make all the difference.
Thank you,
