I knew I was fast and could outrun anyone on the soccer field and basketball court so at the end of my soccer season at Immaculate High School in Danbury, Connecticut, I decided to try indoor track. I wanted to do this now in my Junior year before I ran out of time even though I'd been successfully playing the other sports since I was 7 years old. I told my Mom, a D1 half-miler at UMaine, that my goal was to make New England's. And I did. And I made the finals!
Although this is my first track season and I have been running the 55 meter dash for only two months, I have won an SWC conference title, a 3rd in Class S states, a 4th in Open States and qualified for New England’s. I was able to accomplish this even though my two Coaches are really long-distance coaches and so I haven't really had training in sprint basics. I'm definitely looking forward to competing in my first outdoor season!
I have a high interest in schools in the Northeast at any Division level but financial need could be an issue depending on the cost of the school and whether I receive an athletic scholarship. As of right now, I haven't narrowed down my major but I am definitely interested in athletic training and psychology. I have enjoyed my first track season so much that my athletic goals now are to run at the highest level that I can through drive and hard work and to help bring a team to success by leadership and positive encouragement.

UPDATE, June 4, 2012: I set PRs today in both of my events and on to New Englands Friday in both! In the 100, I ran 11.07 in the prelims and 11.05 in the Finals. I ran 22.44 in the 200. Weather was terrible.

UPDATE, April 11, 2012: Yesterday was my first OUTDOOR meet. It was in Newtown, CT and was great. Very different from INDOOR. I ran the 100m and the 200m dashes. I haven't seen the official stats yet but I think that I did really well...10.8HC in the 100m and 22.6HC in the 200m. I'm going to work hard to make those times better.
