Lorenzo Lopes '26 Recruiting Profile

Hello, I'm Lorenzo Lopes, currently a sophomore in high school with a deep-rooted passion for running.  My journey in running began way back in Kindergarten, and as I have grown older, my love for the sport has only intensified.  My ultimate aspiration is to compete at the collegiate level, joining a highly competitive running team.

I am the kind of athlete who thrives on hard work and isn't afraid of the challenges it takes to reach number 1.  I find joy in inspiring my teammates through my positivity, sense of humor, and love for running.

My journey in organized running started in the third grade when I joined a club team, where I felt the thrill of competing.  I am proud to say that I am still actively involved with that club team today, giving back by volunteering my time to mentor and assist young runners in their own running careers.

Here are some of the notable achievements:

• As a sophomore, I ran in the Nike Cross Country Regional Race in the Open Division and finished 6th
• All-State XC Championship - Class S Winner
• In 2023, I achieved the title of All-American at the USATF National Junior Olympics, securing 4th place in the 2K Steeplechase
• The same year, I continued performance at the USATF Outdoor Nationals, where I won 1st place in the 2K Steeplechase and 2nd place in the 3000M race.
• I made New Balance Outdoor National in 2023 competing in the Freshmen Mile and Two-Mile Events
• Indoor, I made the New Balance Indoor Nationals in 2023 and competed in the Freshmen Mile, Rising Star DMR and the Freshmen 800.
