My name is Daniel McCourt and I am a distance runner in the class of 2026. My goal is to be a competitive collegiate distance runner. I am a second degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and have participated in the sport for 9 years. Tae Kwon Do has many key tenants or guiding principles that have been instilled upon me such as respect, responsibility, discipline, and indomitable spirit. My indomitable spirit has been tested several times throughout my life such as the injuries I faced in 2022 that sidelined me for 8 weeks. I persevered through these tribulations and found additional ways to further my running career. I am very coachable and keep an open mind in terms of training routines and race strategies in order to maximize my performance in practice and competition. Through many victories and losses throughout my freshman year I have learned the importance of being consistent and the importance of small details and activities in order to separate one's self from everyone else. That is why I follow a strict diet and recovery process outside of practice in order to prepare myself and push myself each day in practice and in competition. I put forth maximum effort into my daily training and recovery in order to better myself as a distance runner. I also maintain self-discipline in all areas of my life including school, running, and daily activities to benefit myself as a human being and to become the best version of myself.
