I am an academically high achieving, multi-sport All-County athlete who is mentally and physically ready and excited to compete and succeed at the college level. I have played sports my entire life, soccer, track and field, baseball, and tennis, just to name a few. Outside of school, I enjoy surfing, wakeboarding, spear fishing and pickle ball. As an athlete, I am fiercely driven and have an exemplary work ethic. My training consists of weekly conditioning on and off the field. I have an infectious positive attitude and pride myself on being a true team leader and player. A former soccer coach once dubbed me as being, "the most coachable kid I have ever met."
My javelin story is an interesting one. During my sophomore year of high school, it was noticed I had a special talent. I can do what’s called a “long throw” in soccer. A long throw is a technique where I can throw the soccer ball a huge distance, typically aiming for a specific player or in the penalty area to create a scoring opportunity. This past year, I led the team in assists, was number one in the State in assists solely off of throw-in’s, at one point, until I suffered a concussion and had to stop playing for the rest of the season. After seeing my success as a long thrower, I was encouraged to try javelin. “Why not?”, I thought.
I have only been throwing javelin competitively for the past two years. But, in those two years, I won Districts twice and placed 3rd in Regionals, missing an opportunity to compete in States by one spot. I love throwing the javelin. I love the camaraderie that a track team brings, I love the challenge of competing and I especially love the physics and strategy that determines the distance and trajectory of a good throw. These past two years are just the start.
In the classroom, I have taken the most challenging courses possible, even taking extra classes each semester. I have successfully completed a total of 11 AP classes, receiving 4’s and 5’s on most of them including, AP Calculus and Computer Science. I have been a member of the National Beta club for the past four years, earned AP scholar with distinction the past two years, have been on the honor roll every semester during High School and am a member of the National Math, Science, English and Latin Honor Societies.
During my free time, I am a member of the Technology Student Association, where I compete in STEM competitions, winning/placing in seven State and National competitions. In addition, I compete in Model UN and am a Pine Crest Ambassador where I give tours to prospective families. I am also passionate about giving back to the community. I have been a member of Joshua’s Heart Foundation since I was in Lower School, an organization that provides food distributions to the less fortunate families in my community.
I work hard at everything I do. Now, I want to continue mastering the science and art of javelin at the next level, where I am confident, I will continue to improve while contributing to the community around me. I hope to continue this journey at a top-level college with a reputation for stellar academics, a strong STEM program and a competitive track team. Thank you for your consideration.
