I am currently a Junior at Homestead High School. As a multiple sport athlete, I get a lot of personal satisfaction from setting goals, competing and having fun. I began soccer and downhill skiing at three years old and find I'm my best self when I have a sport to focus on. From age three through 8th grade, my primary sports were soccer, baseball, basketball, ultimate frisbee, biking, and downhill skiing. In 5th grade, my teams won the Regional Championships for soccer and the League Championship in Baseball. That year I also made our All-Star baseball team.
After 5th grade, my family moved from Washington State to Fort Wayne, Indiana. One of the biggest challenges for me was trying to join school sports teams since the coaches did not know me and had worked with a lot of kids since they were younger. Because of that, I found new ways to continue to play sports that I loved, and that spring in 8th grade I joined the track and field team, and that turned out to be great for me.
Freshman year of high school I went out for the Cross Country team and was so happy to earn Varsity in my first year. Working with my coaches, I tried to improve my times at every race. Track and field came that spring where I also earned a Varsity letter. Sophomore year in Cross Country I was named MVP for achieving the best time on the team. The highlight of the year was in Track and Field. I earned the highest number of points of any of our distance runners. I also earned a spot on the State Championship roster. Going to State was such a great experience, where I placed 18th in the 1600M race. Junior year Cross Country I continued to improve my times and once again was awarded MVP. This winter instead of indoor track, I decided to join our boys' swim team focusing on the 100M Freestyle and 200M Freestyle Relay where our team made it to sectionals. I've found swimming has made me a lot stronger with my running. I am competitive and goal-oriented, and looking forward to continuing my running in college.
