As an eighth grader my coach introduced me to cross country. My team won district for the first time in the past ten years, and our team won by our sixth man. Running cross country got me mentally tough, running cross country uses your brain as much as your body. Our team the year before I joined was not able to compete, because they did not have enough members. Our current team and our coach started the program all over again and we have been rising higher and higher in our class of competition in the state of New Mexico.
I love competition, with competition I perform a lot better than on my own. I live the life of a competitor. I think I am very competitive because I have a twin. We grew up always wanting to be better than the other. We do switch off and on with who performs better every year. We are practically the same person. I have heard a quote saying “be better than the person you see in the mirror,” well to me my mirror isn’t me but my brother. We play the same exact sports and run together as well as push each other to our limits.
