Hi, my name is Luke Martin. For as long as I can remember, my entire life has been about sports. When I was little I would go out in the backyard every day just working on my craft. I always asked myself how can I get better at the sport I was playing whether it was soccer, basketball, lacrosse or baseball. In all those sports, nearly every single person who watched me play always told me that I was really fast. I realized early on that whether I performed very well or did not, I was always the hardest working athlete at the practices and at the games. In addition to my work ethic; I feel it was always my speed that helped me to excel in those sports and play at an elite level for each one of them. This past season I decided to give Track and Field a try. This was definitely the best decision I made in my life to date. Even though I am early in my track career, only having run two seasons so far, I immediately fell in love with it. I knew this was the sport for me. The feeling I get when I’m in my start waiting for the official to the pull the trigger of the gun is just amazing, it’s a feeling that I haven’t felt in my previous sports careers. This past off-season, I’ve worked extremely hard to increase my speed so that when winter arrives, I will be the best track athlete I can be. I created a lifting program for each day of the week which coordinates with a running workout after lifting days. I believe I am very coachable. I love being analyzed and critiqued because I know that what I am being told will make me that much better and even the tiniest things can make the biggest difference. My goal is to always outperform myself and be ever improving. Thank you very much for your time.
