Personal Statement

I want to better myself as a student athlete at the college level because I know that I have the talent to compete. I look forward to advancing my knowledge and athletics at the same time and college athletics will do just that. I am talented in the 110 meter high hurdles, 300 meter hurdles and 60 meter hurdles. Given the chance to train at a college level will only show improvement. I am self taught on all of my events and have had no trouble with learning new techniques. Given my limited practice options, I have always been able to to compete with the more experienced athletes without any trouble.

Don't let my current ACT score fool you on my academics. I have only had the chance to take the test 1 time and it was just to see how the test is. I have studied a lot and plan to take the test many more times to show my more accurate score. My average GPA for the last school year was 3.6/4.0

Events

  • Camp/Event
  • 60 Meter Hurdles
  • I was only able to compete at 1 regular season meet do to lack of transportation. With running a time of 8.42 I qualified for the state meet. i placed 10th at state with no training.

Training

  • Indoor Track
  • 1 year
  • We do not have access to any training facilities during the winter so we were unable to practice events. We had to just go off of ability and talent.
  • Outdoor Track
  • 5 years
  • I have had a lot of support from the coaches but not really any training. I had to research my hurdle techniques, block techniques and sprinting techniques all on my own. Over the years I have taught myself to compete and train by myself with limited help. It has worked out pretty well. I have been the MVP on my track team for the past 5 years. With college training I will strive.
