Hello coaches, I am Baba Sylla and I think I am a good runner for your team. When I was young, I enjoyed watching track because of how the sport shows the athletes strength, speed and endurance. I was able to experience this for the first time in 4th grade, when I joined my elementary school's track team. I did track again in 5th grade and continued in 6th grade when I switched to Winchester Thurston. But I decided to quit the sport to focus on tennis. But for my sophomore year I've decided to give it another try. To start the fall season off, I joined Winchester Thurston's cross country team. My PB for the season was 19:57, and we made it to states. We got 3rd at states, but I couldn't compete due to a pulled quad. I also decided to join the indoor track team and so far I have ran the 400m event in 58.64 and ran the first leg of the 4x200 in 24 seconds. My goal for this indoor season is to qualify for the TSTCA Indoor Championship in the open 200 and qualify for the PFTCA Indoor Championship in the open 200. I know this will be difficult, but I am willing to push myself to reach these goals for this indoor season.
Performing well academically has always been another goal for me. Academic excellence is important to expand my knowledge and for my future. I haven't decided what I want to take in college yet but I hope soon I will find something that I can do that will benefit my future.
