Through my years of running high school cross country and track & field, I have learned many things that have made me a better person and a better runner. The most prominent lesson I have learned is how to be mentally tough and have perseverance
Throughout my many seasons, I have ran and slipped on courses with mud and puddles halfway up my shins. I have ran through pouring rain, snow and 30 mph winds. I have been tripped and kicked on the first lap of a 4X800. And through all of this I have finished every single race knowing I put my all into that race.
In addition to mental toughness, I have also learned about perseverance. While running, I have learned, obviously, not to give up until the very end. But I have also learned to apply it to my everyday life as well. It has helped me while running, and studying, and in boy scouts. The perseverance that i have learned in cross country has helped me to become the Eagle Scout that I am today. Through hard work and perseverance, much like in cross country, I became an eagle scout near the end of my sophomore year. the work that i put into my Eagle rank still shines through today and i work with the same determination and dedication everyday.
What I am looking for in a college is a running program that will challenge my mental toughness and push me to my limit, as well as an excellent academic program that will put me into an exceptional position to take on my career and life ahead of me
