Getsemani Guzman Vega '28 Recruiting Profile

My name is Getsemani which if you didn't know, I'm named after Gethsemane aka, "the garden outside of Jerusalem mentioned in Mark 14 as the scene of the agony and arrest of Jesus". I grew up around the church and family which is where my personality roots. I've always had a big heart and although it may not be in my best favor sometimes, I love to help people. Volleyball helps me focus on myself and it provides me with a space to let out unwanted emotions on the court, rather than my friends and family. Now, that doesn't mean that I'm rude when I play, It means that I use those emotions as motivation and power in order to win. I can be shy sometimes but once you get to know me, you will realize that I love to talk. I've played for about 2 years and my first ever official team was 2024 Boys 14's Twisters. I learned a lot during club and it allowed me to get better and prepare me for high school volleyball. One thing about me that I will say stands out is that I am easy to coach. I've noticed that my coaches have never had to repeat there selves after telling me what to do. Anything and everything that my coaches tell me is locked and stored into my brain. My 9th Grade season didn't go as planned since we were forced to forfeit all of our past games mid-season. This was because I had found out that I wasn't even cleared to play! It sucked because I couldn't play for the next 2 weeks until I got cleared. But best believe that this experience drove me to prove to everyone that even though life throws rocks at me, I'll always come back better. I finished off the season with 40+ digs and I was awarded 2025 Jr. Varsity Defensive Award! I know that I can only grow from here and I'm always ready for an training that I now will help me get better!
