Hi, my name is Matthew. I am primarily an outside hitter that took part in a team that won the 17 USA division at the Las Vegas 2022 USAV Nationals. I also set for my high school Team, Ridgefield High School.  We have made it to the quarterfinals and semifinals the two years that I have been a part of the varsity starting lineup, as the setter no less.  

I started playing volleyball in 2017, playing on Mizuno East's 16-3's.  Then, in successive years, I played on the 15-1's, then the 16'1's at Northeast VBC, then the 17-1's, and then the 17-1's again.  That sheer amount of time spent playing is not even the best part of my athletic experience.  As of this year, I will finally be entering the 17u age bracket as a true 17u aged player, and I plan to play with the up and coming 17-1's again at Northeast VBC this year.  I am a very coachable player, being sculpted by a total of 7 coaches over the course of my athletic career. I consider myself to be a jack of all trades, totaling 100 kills in 400 attempts this past club year, over 600 assists in the 2022 spring school season, and during my 2 years as a libero I had over 300 digs at the club level, and that was when I was 13 and 14. 

I have a large amount of academic accolades under my belt.  I have achieved high honor roll every quarter of my high school experience, with 6 Honors classes under my belt, and currently taking 3 Honors and 2 AP classes in the 2022-23 school year.  I plan to continue my academic experience in the field of Engineering, preferably in Chemical or Nuclear engineering at the college level.  

I am a diverse person, both in the academic and athletic field. I am different from many other players because of my extensive background in volleyball, my urge to be academically inclined, and my ability to be an extremely coachable player.
