Tyler Patten '25 Recruiting Profile

I began my volleyball journey in the spring of 2020. Growing up I played many sports including soccer, basketball, tennis and track & field  However, my passion for volleyball could not be matched by other sports so I committed full time to volleyball in 2021.  

I compete at both the Highschool and club level.  In the spring of 2022 I played up an age group for The RVC 16-1 team. This was a wonderful experience as I started all season / playing Opposite hitter.  In the fall of 2022 I captained my Highschool JV team to an undefeated 18-0 record while playing Outside hitter. I was awarded player of the year, coaches award and team MVP.  I then moved to varsity where I helped Patrick Henry Highschool win their 7th straight state championship. 

In the spring of 2023 I was selected to the RCVA 16 National team. We are playing in Chicago, Ft Lauderdale, Pennsylvania, DC, N Carolina all in the Open Division. In our first tournament in Chicago (Jan)  we received a USA Bid. I have a well rounded game which has allowed me to play multiple positions including Outside, Opposite and Libero.

In the fall of 2023 I started for Patrick Henry Highschool at Libero.  We won the class 4A state title (#8) and I was awarded All region and All Metro awards.  This spring I am starting at libero for the RCVA 17 National team.

My ultimate goal is to continue my education at an institution that will allow for scholastic success while playing the game I love. I am a strong student taking both AP and IF classes.  I enjoy teaching others about the game and have many hours volunteering boys and girls clubs around the Richmond area. 

I love this game and believe it has helped me be a better person, teammate, student and athlete.  There are a lot of talented players competing today. While I believe I have similar physical talents - what separates me is my passion, enthusiastic approach and Love of my teammates.
