Personal Statement
Softball is very important to me for many reasons. I am a very shy person but on the softball field I find I am more outgoing. Through softball I have met girls who are more than friends they are sisters for life.
Recently my family moved to another school district. As a sophomore in high school this would have been difficult for most any kid but for someone as shy as I am it was extremely difficult. To make things more difficult my parents wanted me to go to a school out of district that was better academically than the district we lived in so I was ineligible for softball. I still wanted to be involved so I asked the coach to let me be a part of the team although I couldn’t play. I tried out and “made” varsity even though I was ineligible for that year but I went to every practice and game and cheered my team on from the bench. It was hard to watch and not play but I knew that I would rather be on that bench than not be a part of softball at all. I am so excited to be on the high school field this year and I hope to continue to play as long as I am able while I continue my education.
