My name is Madison Sanders, I am going to be a junior at Moody High School in Moody, AL. This past year was my first year at the school. My family relocated from a nearby community where I grew up, Clay, AL. I enjoyed living in Clay and playing softball at Clay Chalkville, but my parents and I felt like moving to Moody would provide me a better educational and athletic future. At Clay-Chalkville High School I started varsity as a 7th grader. I was the main pitcher as an 8th and 9th grader. My first year at Moody, I also became my team’s main pitcher. I threw 170 innings and won 18 games to help my team win our area, our region and finish 3rd in the state in our classification. In addition to improved softball coaching and program, Moody has also challenged me in the classroom.
I have been playing softball since I was 5 years old and pitching since I was 9 years old. Ever since I started playing, I have loved the game of softball! When I was younger my goal was just to play for my high school but as I became older and more experienced I began to realize that playing in high school just wasn’t enough. A dream of becoming a college athlete was a real possibility and my new goal!
Softball has already taught me so many lessons on an off the field. Things about life in general like work ethic, sportsmanship, focus, being a good teammate, and so many more. My goal is to go to a college where the coaches will push me to become better on and off the field. I really enjoy athletics and would really like to major in a sports science so that I could eventually end up in Physical Therapy or Athletic Training or possibly even Chiropractic school so I could continue to work with athletes or even young athletes.
