Personal Statement
Dear Prospective Coach;
My collegiate goals are to attend a 4-year university and major in Biology, where I hope to continue playing the sport I love.
When I’m on the field, I play knowing that I put 110% in the game. My team has my back and I have theirs. I always go by the famous words of Hall of Famer Wayne Gretzky,” You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take,” and by John Maxwell’s, “teamwork makes the dream work.” As a leader for my team, I make sure that cooperation and collaboration on the field is placed first. There’s no better feeling than putting my all into a game and my team is right there besides me. I’ve learned over my many years playing softball that the right mindset is what sets anyone apart from the good to the greats. A great player isn’t just a great athlete, but a scholar, supporter, and a well-rounded individual.
I always say that determination and hard work are the keys to playing. It is also important for me to have fun alongside my team, but what comes with that is winning- that shared feeling of having won the battle after a game, that shared feeling of being victorious.
Alongside working to improve my skills, I participate in assistant coaching for my younger sister’s softball team. This puts the life of the game into a different perspective for me and helps me tweak my abilities; to see the areas I need to improve. As an assistant coach and mentor, I am giving back to my community, specifically to the girl's softball community.
Regards,
Aidan Turner
