Personal Statement
I began playing softball at the age of five for a park district league. My passion and drive to succeed has grown ever since my first game. My passion and everlasting support from my parents has motivated me to pursue a softball career at the collegiate level. Softball has helped shape me into who I am today.
I have played at the travel level for 5 years now. My current team is the Illinois Patriots (18U) based in Palatine. I have had the privilege to play at the 18U level since I was 14. Playing against older, more talented players has brought my pitching and overall softball skills to a new level. I was given the opportunity to challenge my pitching skills which led to me developing more movement to my pitches.
I have overcome unique obstacles in recent years. From dealing with strenuous injuries, I have learned to persevere and make the choice to choose softball over vacations, concerts, and social events. I've challenged myself to focus on the continuous improvement of my softball skills during the high school and travel seasons. By prioritizing softball over my social life, I have discovered the positive outcomes and new opportunities my dedication has achieved.
My education is a very important factor in my college decisions. I currently have a 4.2 GPA that reflects my diligent work ethic. I intend to transfer my attentive work ethic into my college years. Looking ahead to college, I have peaked interest in special education and also criminal justice.
I consider myself an enthusiastic team player that focuses on more than just winning. I believe that winning is great, but it's not everything. To be the best you must work harder than your competition if you want to be on top. Improvement is everything. I support my teammates and motivate them on and off the field. As an athlete, I consider myself possessing the unique trait of being able to perform well in high pressure situations on the field. My coaches see me as a player that keeps her head down and pushes through obstacles to be successful. My easy going personality and friendly attitude has allowed me to widen the number of friendships I have received from softball.
