Personal Statement
I want to play college ball. I want to grow as a player. I want to do this while earning a degree in Elementary Education.
I've been playing softball since I was 8 years old. Since the first practice I knew I was a pitcher, I remember asking my dad every day if he could catch for me and the days he couldn't I would take a bucket of balls and pitch them into the side of our house. Eventually my parents got annoyed from hearing the banging and me chipping all the paint off that they put up a net and made me own pitching area with a mound and a plate, I threw about 30 buckets that day and my arm may have been numb but you couldn't take the smile off my face. I learned to throw a change-up when I was 10 and I remember being the only pitcher to know how to throw a change-up at my age and how I would shock all other other parents. As soon as I learned there were these things called spin pitches and that I could make the ball move, you could not get me away from YouTube and me watching all kinds of videos while sitting on my couch spinning the ball. I begged my parents for a pitching instructor but we couldn't afford one so for things like my birthday or Easter I would get a lesson and it would make me so happy and excited that I would get to learn. I excitement I still get now at 18 years old when my coach tells me to go warm up and that I'm going in a game or starting. During games I get this feeling almost like chills and its the greatest feeling I have ever experienced, I can't even putting it into words.
I value the importance of being on a team. I listen to every word my coaches have to say and truly take it all in. I believe in my teammates and I trust them with everything. I have many friends outside softball but the relationships I have with my teammates are different, they get me and understand. My teammates always become my best friends and sisters. I am a leader, I am careful with my words and and a listener. Whether or not I am on the field or off you will never find me with my head down.
