Becca Nicholson '24 Recruiting Profile

Greetings!  Allow me to introduce myself and convince you that I am a solid choice for your softball program. My name is Becca Nicholson, and I am currently a Junior at Cedar Falls High School in Iowa, graduating in 2024. I have always been an athlete. From gymnastics, ages 3-9, finishing 2nd and 4th at the state championships, JV high school volleyball, 3 years on a travel volleyball team, 2+ years in womens' high school wrestling, and softball. Since age 8, I have been involved with softball. Optimist ball, 6+ years on a travel softball team, and JV high school softball as a catcher and team captain. My teams always come ready to compete, and my travel team has finished 2nd at the state championships twice with strong finishes in other years.  Through all of this, softball has always been my passion. I am now laser-focused solely on softball. As I mentioned, I am the starting catcher and team captain for both my travel team and JV team. I enjoy both the position and the challenge of keeping my teammates motivated and aware of the current situation. I am also strong at 2nd base and the Coaches trust me as a utility player when needed to resolve issues at other positions. Whatever it takes to make the team successful, I am happy to do it. 

Academically, I have a 3.74 Cumulative GPA. I am a leader in the Student Council and plan on expanding that to a few smaller school groups.  I am forming a Women in Engineering Group at my school to support and promote my fellow female classmates on that same path.  Along with Engineering, I am also equally driven toward the medical field in some way.  I am considering many options from physical therapy to being a Surgeon. I have always been pulled toward the military. Because I have many Military Veterans in my family, I would love to be able to work within, for, or supporting our armed forces in some capacity. Attending West Point, Air Force or Naval Military Academies or any other college/university are all welcome opportunities. As I hope I have shown, I have many assets and qualities that I will use to better myself, my team, and my school. I am a strong, independent woman who can be educated, and molded into a fierce Student-Athlete who will represent the values and standards of your school.
