Personal Statement

My name is Carly Hiatt, and I'm a junior at Pleasant Valley High School in Bettendorf, Iowa. I've been playing sports since I was 3 years old, starting with tee-ball, and have developed many essential life skills through my experiences. I fell in love with softball when I transitioned from baseball and played as a catcher for the PV Xplosion. Over the years, I've played almost all positions and have become an athletic utility player with a strong arm, great range, and speed. I've played with various teams, including Quad City Lady Hitmen 07, the Monsters organization, and now will begin to play with Iowa Premier Gold 16U National Team this fall of 2023.

I am a student both on and off the field.  Learning and growing are priorities as a student and athlete. My strong work ethic has led to earning good grades and Dean’s List in high school, maintaining a 3.41 GPA. As with softball, I work hard in school and always try my best. My coaches and teachers will tell you that I am a responsible, respectful, and coachable team player. I am loyal and like to build relationships with my teammates on and off the field. I try new things and also participated in the arts and vocal music at school. My vocal music director chose me to be a section leader last year. Joining our track team helped me grow in confidence and speed as well. Learning is important to me. I want to be a teacher when I grow up, as I love to work with younger kids. I look forward to working hard with fitness, weight training, and skill work while developing myself as a student and softball player to become a college student-athlete and reach these dreams.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
