Personal Statement

Hello Coaches!  My name is Natalie Smithson and I am a 2026 RHP/OF.  I am a dedicated student-athlete with a 4.0 GPA, excelling both on the field and in the classroom. During my seven years playing softball, I have honed my skills as both a pitcher and outfielder.  My versatility on the field allows me to adapt to different situations and contribute to the team's success.  My determination, coachability, work ethic and drive are qualities that I bring to every practice and game.  This season as a sophomore I have been given a leadership role with helping the freshman adapt and gain confidence as members of our team and it is a role that I enjoy.  Once my softball career is over, I hope to coach youth in my community and help them develop the same joy and passion for the game as the coaches that I have had have done for me.

As a future college student-athlete, I am passionate about pursuing a degree in either elementary education or sonography.  I believe that I can excel academically while getting a well-rounded education that will help me pursue my goals.   I would love to also represent the college I choose on the field!  I love the game, am constantly learning more about the game through reading, watching and studying others playing.  Being a true student of the game all the way around is something that sets me apart from other athletes.  The desire to never say, "I'm good enough," is a belief that will help me continue to grow and develop my skills to become a better version of myself tomorrow than I am today!

Events

  • Camp/Event
  • CSB-- Softball Texas Showcase
  • 6/04/24 to 6/04/24
  • I look forward to attending this event this summer to workout with college coaches and get feedback to improve my game. I will also get new metrics on my growth to help me continue to improve my game.
  • Camp/Event
  • High School Warm Up
  • 2/23/24 to 2/25/24
  • I guest played for a team as my normal team was not playing. While the team struggled a bit, it was nice to get to play after almost two months of no tournaments. I like playing with different players and working to encourage and be a positive addition to their team while I am there. I had 5 at bats during the 4 games. I had three triples, a single and a walk so I went 1.00 at the plate. I did relief pitch some as well.
  • Camp/Event
  • Emporia State Pitchers/Catchers/Hitting Camp
  • 1/14/24 to 1/14/24
  • The Emporia camp has become a favorite of mine since last year. I will attend both sessions, one for pitching and another for hitting. I enjoy working with the current athletes and coaches to gain knowledge of my skills and ways that I can grow and improve. I will be able to get new reads on my skills such as pitching speed, bat speed and 60 foot dash. I will update my profile at the conclusion of this camp.
  • Camp/Event
  • PRIDE camp in conjunction with the National All State Tournament
  • 12/28/23 to 12/28/23
  • This camp is a part of the National All State tournament and will be coached by the professional PRIDE softball team. Athletes from around the country will attend this camp and will work on all aspects of the game from pitching, hitting, fielding and team building.
  • Camp/Event
  • National All State Tournament
  • 12/27/23 to 12/31/23
  • Post tournament update: Our team battled from 10th seed to WIN the entire HS Open tournament. It was such an experience. We met each other on a Thursday night, played the next 3 days. We just kept figuring each other out and put it all together to play our best ball at the right time. We learned each other strengths and how to communicate both on and off the field. I was recognized by the coaches as the MVP for the division which was a great honor. I will be playing on the Sugar Plum Dream Team. After playing in the Mo/Kan All State Championships, I was invited to play in the first ever National All State tournament in Viera, FL. I look forward to this event as there is a camp with professional softball players prior to the event and then we get to play with other players from our state/region. There are 4 pool games into a single elimination bracket. My goal for attending this tournament is to gain experience with playing with others, gaining skills through the camp and meet new people who love the game that I love!
  • Camp/Event
  • 316 Elite College Softball Exposure Camp
  • 12/02/23 to 12/02/23
  • The 316 Softball organization is sponsoring this camp in December. They will take measurements and assess skills so I will get updated information to help me grow as a player. After the morning sessions, we will have an afternoon scrimmage and I look forward to playing with other players from the area. I always look forward to working with college coaches as well who give of their time and energy to come and help players develop and grow.
  • Camp/Event
  • RecruitLook Fal Showcase
  • 11/03/23 to 11/05/23
  • Tournament Overview: Our team took 4th place in the Gold bracket. I pitched 12 2/3 innings and was brought in as a relief pitcher in some high stakes games. I felt that I had good speed and location command throughout the tournament. I am grateful for the opportunity to play 7 games this weekend and continue to fine tune my game. Update: I am playing as number 40. I have been asked to guest play with the Wichita Rebels 16B team. I will be pitching for them. I look forward to the opportunity to play in this event, work with other players and coaches and just be on the field. My current travel team is currently in our "off season". So I have been looking for opportunities that are a good fit to continue to play later into the fall. I look forward to working with this team in this unique event.
  • Camp/Event
  • Mo/Kan All State Tournament
  • 8/05/23 to 8/05/23
  • Invitation tournament. Played in the High School division with other athletes from around Kansas and Missouri.
