Personal Statement
My love for softball is difficult to put into words. The moment I stepped on the field at eight years old, softball became more than just a sport. It's not something I just 'do' in the spring, it's part of who I am. I love the adrenaline, the way my feet dig into the dirt, the electricity of the crowd, seeing the entire field in front of me, the sound my bat makes when I connect, the satisfaction of a perfect frame and knowing when a runner is going to go for the steal. I love being the 'steady' on the team, the one everyone looks to be strong. My team is my family and the friendships mean the world to me.
I believe that success on and off the field is directly attributed to the relationships an athlete has with coaches, players, umpires and parents. Showing respect and appreciation for authority is important to me. I'm coachable and I love to the be the one my coach picks on because I know that he/she is pointing out what will make me better.
When I think of my future I see softball as a big part of that. I see playing at the collegiate level an opportunity to become who I am meant to be, both on and off the field. Academics are my first priority. I am an excellent, self-disciplined student. I've maintained a 4.0 GPA and am determined to keep it that way. I am a student-athlete, not an athlete-student. My dream is to be a successful collegiate athlete and my priority is to play at a college that helps me to be a better player, a better teammate, and a better person altogether.
