Maya Angelou said it best, ”All great achievements require time.” This is how I view life, knowing that I must put in the work to achieve my goals. One of my dreams is to play softball at a collegiate level, when I think about my college experience, I am hopeful that I can be a part of a team - one that will help shape me and prepare me for real world experiences. Playing collegiate softball is not my only dream, I also hope to obtain my undergraduate degree in Psychology which will provide a solid foundation to move into Law. My ultimate goal is to become a criminal defense attorney. The skill set that I believe will set me apart from others as well as make me a strong candidate for your school/team are my desire to be challenged and my ability to thrive under stress. When I am critiqued or corrected, I find myself working harder to achieve the goals laid before me, either personal goals or team goals. I truly admire coaches who push me to dig deeper, try harder, and perfect my craft.

As a freshman in high school, I understand that I am at the beginning of my journey, however, I know that my desire to challenge myself academically and athletically will only grow. Being an Afro-Latina who grew up in a predominately White area of Minnesota has taught me to be strong and stand up to adversity as well as understand myself and how I can be successful when the odds are against me. I am strong, kind, hard-working, and dedicated to continued growth. I will apply these core values to every endeavor and always strive to be better than I was the day before - I am a team player, encourager, and supporter, where I am most competitive is with myself.
