Personal Statement

I was pretty sure I wanted to play collegiate softball since I was in middle school, but I feel that a highlight in my freshman year solidified it for me and will be something I will remember forever!
My high school team and I were playing with all our heart in a tough game and we were in a scoreless 10th inning.  My freshman year I was only 5’4” and maybe 120 pounds.  I was very used to being underestimated and having to prove myself repeatedly in all three of my sports.  No one that night and only a few opponents from that whole season had gotten a hit off this D1 committed pitcher and it was my 3rd at bat against her.  It was a full count and I fouled off multiple pitches, but I am pretty good under pressure, and the next pitch I hit a walk-off home run over center field!  It was a great experience and the whole team was ecstatic to have won!

I am fortunate enough to have a great program at my high school and this last year we made it one game away from going to state.  This was the farthest my school had come for over 15 years and it taught me how important teamwork, commitment, and leadership are.  I am looking for a program that will be a good fit for me athletically and academically.  Having been a three sport athlete and knowing what it’s like to compete not only to win a spot, but to make people see my talent and not my size, helps me feel that I have the drive, work ethic, and leadership to make a positive impact on your program.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
