Something interesting about me is that I have six siblings. Growing up in a big family has taught me a lot of responsibility and time management. Also having four younger sibling has taught me to be a positive role model and to care for others. I am usually the go to babysitter because my older brothers are busy with college and they aren’t the best babysitters either. My youngest brother who is 3 now has taught me patience because he constantly clings to me and he’s not yet speaking. I can never tell what he’s thinking so I must take my time with him and my experience with him reflects into my day to day interactions.
My passion for softball is mainly influenced by my dad who was a baseball catcher and also my great grandpa who was a talented baseball pitcher in Mexico. I started pitching when I was 10 and have pitched since then. I believe pitching is one of the hardest positions mentally. As a pitcher you always have to keep your mind clear of any mistakes and support yourself while also supporting your team. As a pitcher myself I have a strong mental game and don’t let mistakes get to me. I always acknowledge my teammates if they do something good or bad. If they make a mistake, I make sure to let them know it’s fine they got the next one. I have learned a team that is silent or doesn’t support each other will not succeed as much even with all the talent in the world but the heart for the game and the teamwork always prevails. Last year I was 15 on a 18u team and had to learn my place among a team of 17 and 18 year olds. Through hard work and tough love from my coach I found myself as I would say the heart of this team. I made it my goal to support each player no matter what. This taught me how strong a team bond can be and to me now it is the most important.
Academically I strive to succeed in college and keep my GPA consistently at a 3.6 or higher. I consider my grades the most important for college. Mainly because I plan to go into the medical field and to succeed I need excellent grades
