Personal Statement
My name is Emily Rose and I am a 2021 Graduate. I currently go to Clayton High School in Clayton, NC. I have been playing softball since I was 5 years old and I currently play for the Spirits Fastpitch Travel Ball Team. My primary position is Catcher with secondary positions at 3rd base and shortstop but am willing to play wherever the coach needs for me to help the team. I love playing softball as it is teaching me lessons of teamwork, discipline, responsibility, accountability and leadership.
My goal is to be an immediate contributor to my team as a freshman while also pursuing a degree in Sports Medicine or Athletic Training & Rehabilitation. I will work hard to continue to develop my skills on and off the field to bring success to the program I am in and for my long-term goals of obtaining a college degree while playing softball and then continuing on into my Master's coursework.
One of my favorite things to do is mentor the younger girls in our organization at the 10U and 12U level. I love teaching and working with the younger players and watching them improve month-after-month. Outside of softball I am a volunteer at the American Red Cross working First Aid Stations and Blood Drives. I volunteer with the YMCA Y-Guides youth programs at camps and help tutor K - 4 at Riverwood Elementary school. At my High School I am a member of the Circle of Friends Club and a mentor for Special Olympics.
I cannot wait to be a part of a Collegiate Softball Team building new friendships, developing my skills and preparing to achieve my educational goals.
