Personal Statement

I am Jasmyne, some people like to call me Jazzy, which is ok with me. I am 6’0 ft. and 165 lbs. I was born in June, and my Zodiac sign is Gemini.

I am in the graduating class of 2019 at Millennium/Piedmont High School in Piedmont, California. I have played 3 years of varsity basketball and several years of AAU ball. Currently, I am playing with an AAU team, Cal Storm - Bay Area, to hopefully gain exposure for possible basketball opportunities and increase my skill level. This season (2017) I have been named MVP of Paris Twins Classic Tournament, Piedmont, CA and Stokes Tournament, Kelseyville, CA. During the Stokes tournament, I scored 29 points and 14 rebounds, which at the time was a career high.

I have a 3.6 GPA and my favorite subject is English (and my least favorite is Chemistry). I would like to be a part of a school with a great “college town” atmosphere where I can feel at home and enjoy being a part of a basketball family. I enjoy a good basketball workout that pushes me outside of my boundaries.

Through basketball, I have learned to become a good communicator and strive to be a great leader. Basketball has taught me the importance of communicating with coaches, active listening for running plays, encouraging teammates, and never to be satisfied.

How do I spend my spare time? I love movies with suspense, and occasionally when I am not consumed with basketball, I love taking walks to enjoy nature. I also enjoy hearing about my big brother’s experiences as a U.S. Marine.

My goal is to play at a college with a competitive basketball program, academically challenging, complete my degree and make my parents proud. It may sound like a lot, but through hard work I can do it.
