My name is Sydney Bourland. I am in the graduating class of 2021. I am a 5'10’, 3, but can also play the 4. I go to Archbishop Mitty High School in San Jose California. We finished the season as the #4 ranked team nationally, and #2 ranked team in California according to MaxPreps. We won our league, WCAL, and the CCS championship. I started playing basketball in 1st grade but also excelled at competitive soccer growing up. Basketball has always been my passion, and my time playing other sports has helped with my footwork, court awareness, and fitness. Currently, my strength is my offense, including mid-range shots, and getting to the basket. I also thrive in fast-paced, physical games with a focus on rebounding and running the floor. I am also adept at learning both offensive and defensive plays as my high school team has a large playbook. I was the Captain on the JV team my freshman year and won offensive player of the year on our undefeated team.
I am also dedicated to not only becoming a successful athlete but a student as well. This year I received a 3.7GPA while taking Honors Algebra 2. I am undecided in my College major, but do like math and science and may focus on a business major.
In short, I am the type of player who will bring a second to none work ethic to your team. I thrive in competitive environments and excel in big games. I live to take the last shot, but also find great joy in assists, and watching my teammates have success. I look forward to working hard to become the best possible player I can be and would love to continue my passion for basketball in College.
