Jonel Morris '16 Recruiting Profile

I am a three sport athlete, but that has never stopped me from getting things done in the classroom. I am ranked 10th in my class of 576 students. Once I am given a task, I am focused on acchieveing near perfection with it. I like to sit in front of the class to show the teacher that I am not only there physically, but that they have my full attention.

I have been playing basketball since 3rd grade at the private elementary school I attended. Playing basketball at the collegiate level has always been a dream of mine. I see everytime I step onto the court as an opportunity to increase my chances of playing at the next level. My hard work ethics and heart, set me apart from the rest of the canidates. I am very coachable because I know I still have so much to learn. 

One of my greatest assests is that I am a strong leader. I lead by example and by encouragement. I have been the team captain on all of the teams I have played on (volleyball, basketball, and track). But I know that I make mistakes too, so I know to take correction from my peers and coaches.

I have a very smooth, outside jump shot. I have worked on it diligently in and off season. I have a strength in shooting off of the dribble, but I also am very comfortable shooting off of the pass anywhere along the three point line. I have a pretty solid right hand dribble, I utilize the in-and-out move quite frequently to blow past my defenders. My greatest strenght on the court is by far my defense. I am quick on my feet and can maintain my spacing with the quicker ball handlers. My basketball IQ is fantastic. I quickly learn the strenghts of my teammates and am able to put them in situations that enhance their ability to benefit the team. I find as much pleasure in assiting my teammates as I do actually scoring.

In addition to my basketball accomplishments I am the 2015 Conferece Champion in Shotput, 2014 and 2015 Sectional Champion in Shotput. I have competed at the ISHA State Championship for the past two years too. 

In short, I would be a great addition to any basketball team in need of strong leadership, character, and an outside shooter.
