GOD is the center of my life. I was raised in church and my family told me that GOD will keep me safe no matter where I am in the world. No one will be there with me all the time like Jesus. Along with my spiritual life, my family, education and basketball, I also enjoy weightlifting. I also enjoy long distance running. I‘ve been told that I'm a great artist as well. It's relaxing to draw and paint. My career goal is to be teacher for grades K-6.
I am an honors student. I was inducted into the National Honors Society and will graduate high school with college credits. My goal is to continue playing basketball and receive a full scholarship. As a student athlete, I’d like to attend a school where I will make an impact and can grown as a teammate and as an individual.
My first experience with a recruiter was with Division I, George Mason University. They watched me play the summer before 9th grade at Nationals in Louisiana for Team Takeover.
The same principles I have been taught in sports, I apply to life and are a major role in what helps me succeed. I learned the fundamentals first and then specifics of the game of basketball on both ends of the floor from a team concept and the individual responsibility of every position.
I'm a great choice for any program because, my approach to basketball is the same as in life. Being a top notch student athlete has trained me to be well prepared for sudden changes. I learned to play almost every position on both ends of the floor offensively and defensively, rotating on the flight of the ball, denying cuts, quickly getting to the ball to stop penetration, effective communication and trapping. My free throw percentage is above 80%. I am a player who coaches don't need to wonder if was listening to instructions during practice or if the Dean’s List is a goal each semester. I was taught to be tough because nothing will come easy. I was taught to build on the strong foundation that I already have.
I expect the most out of myself in the classroom and on the court. I strive to be a positive leader by taking initiative through actions and knowing I belong. I don't wait for my coaches to ask me to preform. I was raised to invite teammates to workout and study with because you win and lose as a team and learn from each other the more time you spend together. It all builds team chemistry and improves the comradery which eventually adds up to team wins.
When the team is a winning team everyone will be noticed. That is the mentality I have and that same perspective will help me in my career.
