When I was a freshman on my high school varsity team, our head coach asked me and my teammates where we wanted to be in 5 years. My response was “Playing basketball in college!” I have been around basketball my entire life. I grew up watching my three older siblings play and as soon as I could dribble a ball I started playing. Since then, I have aspired to play the game I love in college.
My coaches know me as a gritty, physical player with a high basketball IQ. I play hard on both ends of the court, playing tough defense and using great ball handling skills on offense. I pride myself on being a coachable athlete who welcomes any feedback that will make me better as both a player and a leader. I was named team captain as a Junior and it has been a responsibility that I am honored and grateful to carry. My teammates know me as a hardworking, positive and dependable leader. I always try to lead by example and am my teammates’ biggest supporter, on and off the court.
I am a true team player who puts the success of my team before myself. I thrive on being part of a team, having to work together and depend on each other to succeed. When you are part of a team, you must learn to respect and work with many different types of people, which is necessary in all aspects of life.
Athletics are a huge part of my life. Along with playing high school basketball, I work on my skills year-round and have played AAU since 5th grade. Currently, I am also on my high school field hockey and lacrosse teams. I have also participated in little league softball, youth soccer, club field hockey and youth basketball throughout my childhood and into my teens.
My education has also always been very important to me. In the classroom, I possess a 4.0 GPA and am consistently on the high honor roll. I am a member of the National Honor Society and was named a player on the PA Field Hockey All-State All-Academic Team. Other extra-curricular activities that I am involved in include the Key Club, Student Council Executive Board where I serve as Junior Board Secretary, and WA Mini-Thon Committee. I am also involved outside of school with my family’s foundation, Little Eric’s Foundation.
I would like to attend a college where I can continue both my athletic and academic careers. I am open to all options and believe my work ethic, abilities, and enthusiasm would be an asset to any program. I want to join a college community where I can push myself to be the best person and athlete I can be and make my family proud.
