Personal Statement
A little about me in sports...
I am enrolled at Douglas High School in Box Elder, South Dakota and am currently involved in softball, basketball, and track although I have also participated in soccer and volleyball. As of now, I have three varsity letters in basketball, one in softball, two in track, and one in volleyball. I’ve played for the high school basketball team since eighth grade and so far at my school, I have broken the girl’s basketball career records for steals (207), free throws (247), three pointers (54), and double doubles (14). I’ve also broken the individual game records for points (36), free throws made (14), and steals (11). Next year I hope to break more. I have been the starting point guard for the past two years and I’ve played point guard on the varsity level for the past three. Often times though, I also play post for my team. I have to say, I’m also proud of my team because without them I would not have been able to accomplish these. Together, as a team, we also broke the team records for threes made in a game (9) and steals in a game (24). I have an amazing coaching staff that I connect with very well and they’re always looking out for my well-being both on and off the court. Some of my closest friends have come from years of playing basketball. The bonds I have created with my teammates allow me to feel safe in an environment where I can talk about serious matters and laugh about something in the same day. I also enjoy to be in the atmosphere where I have the same passion as the person standing next to me. I really hope to be able to continue to create more of these types of bonds and memories at the higher level too.

More about me off the court...
I do many things aside from sports. For example, I have been a 4.0 student throughout all of high school. I have taken the honors path and I plan on continuing to in the future. I’m also in my school’s National Honor Society. I have also taken dual enrollment classes. I also do other activities outside of sports. I’m in my school’s jazz band and have lettered in it for the past two years. I play the alto saxophone and piano which I have been playing for ten years, but in the past I’ve also played the violin, trombone, and I’m learning the guitar. In my spare time I enjoy drawing, crocheting, doing origami, and reading. In the summer, I try to get in some hours volunteering at the Humane Society, hiking, and going to the lake. I also love doing photography and one of my photos has been admitted to the Dahl here in Rapid City.
A little about my family...
My parents are Kerstin and Anthony Toliver and I have one brother, Dominik. My mom is fully german and my dad is from Clarksville, Tennessee. They met while my dad was in the military and because of his involvement in the military, I had the opportunity to live in Germany for seven years where I was able to spend time learning the culture and spend time with my mom’s half of the family. My dad retired in 2016 and we plan to stay here, in Box Elder, until I graduate high school. Everyone in my family takes part in athletic activities and all of them have helped me to become the athlete that I am today. I’m super thankful for the time and dedication they have all put in to helping my prepare and improve in school and sports.
