Lauryn Mitchell '16 Recruiting Profile

Hello! My name is Lauryn Mitchell, my teammates call me Lo. I am a true point guard with solid ball handling and lock down defense skills. I currently attend Middleburg Academy, a rigorous college preparatory High School in Middleburg, Virginia. My strong work ethic, hustle and team spirit make me an effective team leader, mentor, and motivator – all of which helped guide the team my freshman and junior season to the first round of the state quarter finals, and to the state semi finals my sophomore season where after a hard fought battle we fell to the eventual state champions. I pride myself on being an unselfish play maker that can run the floor, finish at the rim, and handle pressure situations with poise and maturity.

I love the game of basketball and enjoy bringing energy to the game. Throughout the process I embrace the details of being a committed student athlete. I get enough sleep, plan ahead academically, eat well, and train hard. The driving principle behind my athletic achievement is the fulfillment for me that comes from contributing to the team's success by always giving 110% and leading by example on and off the court, while making sure I am both approachable and coachable.

When I am not studying or playing basketball you can find me lending a hand as an Admissions Ambassador, Birthright International Volunteer, Middleburg campus Fellowship of Christian Athletes President, Honor Council Member or STEM Camp Counselor – these experiences help me hone my leadership skills and bring awareness to social issues that impact the community.

I look forward to playing competitive basketball for a university that has the right location, connections and support to ensure that my experience as a student athlete culminates successfully in four years. The ideal situation is a combination of admirable academic and athletic programming that will allow me to immediately contribute and blossom further. I envision passionate professors offering collaborative course work, mentoring, and real-world experiences and early morning work outs with my basketball sisters that lead to game day victories on the hard wood.

After studying chemistry or pharmaceutical science and graduating, I plan to pursue a Doctor of Pharmacy degree and eventually become a compounding pharmacist. My passion lies in safely and successfully serving the community through the development and delivery of brand-new pharmaceutical cures. Being able to improve people’s lives and minimize pain or suffering is what drives my desire to become a pharmacist.
