Personal Statement
In the 4th grade, my family and I came up on a program called Upward Basketball. It looked like a super fun time and a great way to make friends. Since the moment I started the game of basketball, I have grown and learned to love it more every day. I was on an AAU travel team from 5th-8th grade and the team improved immensely each season, going from losing 1-22, to blowing teams away whenever we stepped on the court. This all lead up to freshman year, where I was able to start for my sophomore and JV teams, occasionally suiting up for Varsity. Being a part of a team and learning leadership, teamwork, dedication and a strong mentality are few of the many additions that have come with playing. Not only helping in the game, but in life situations as well, pushing me to achieve greatness in my schoolwork as well as my day-to-day challenges. These bumps along the road have taught me to continue and push past what I thought were my limits. I have a mindset to get done what needs to be done. Backing down to a challenge is not in my nature and I will do what it takes to reach my goals to become something I know can be great.
