Personal Statement
As I’m beginning to think about my future and what my career plans are, I have a couple different fields that are appealing to me. I’m still uncertain but I know that sports medicine has always interested me. I am hoping to help athletes understand their bodies and become successful through their athletic careers.
My family has been a tremendous influence on me throughout my life. Growing up my mom instilled that sports can help define my character and prepare me for tough situations I will encounter. My dad has shown me that hard work pays off, if you’re patient and passionate about your goals. Character and hard work is how I would like to define myself through my life. I have great role models setting the stage for me, as I navigate through my career.
Volleyball runs deep through my family history. I grew up in a gym, practically, and have watched, practiced, and participated in the game. Volleyball has taught me so much about who I am. At first, it was natural for me and I understood the game, but as I grew older I have learned that I will have to adjust my level of play and my attitude towards the game. I’m learning that to be successful, I will have to do more off the court, rather than on the court. My work ethic will always need improvements as everyday I know I can do better and be better than who I was yesterday.
Academically, I have big goals. I am striving to maintain a 4.0. My freshman and sophomore year I already have taken many honors and dual credit classes.
I am working on developing myself, pushing myself past my limits. I have become a highly competitive person, but I am not competing with anybody else. I am competing with myself. In turn, I have become a strong and dynamic person.
