My name is Kaitlyn Galvin, I am Junior at Cardinal Mooney Catholic High School located in Sarasota, Florida. I began playing golf three years ago during the COVID-19 Pandemic. From the first time I picked up a club, I knew at that moment that golf was something I wanted to do for the rest of my life. My passion for golf continues on and off the course. For the past three years I have dedicated my time to learning the mechanics of a golf swing and learning the rules, as well as focusing on and growing from mental toughness. On the course, I have an open mind, compassionate towards other players, and I love to have fun. Off the course, I enjoy spending time with friends, going to school, and cooking.
Golf to me is more than just a sport, it is a place for me to connect with people as well as connecting with myself. Throughout the past five months, I have lowered my tournament scores by ten strokes. Before this school year, my father has taught me everything I know. I began working with my first real coach this past August. Because I have only been playing golf for three years, I believe that I am going to continue to grow and improve in golf and myself.
As I attend a college preparatory Catholic school, school is a major priority for me, I take all AP and Honors courses and I am a part of my schools yearbook committee along with many other clubs. I am heavily involved with my local Catholic church, I attend weekly Sunday mass, Altar Serving three times a month. I participate in many service opportunities and I have accumulated over three-hundred service hours. It is very important to me that I give back to the people and places in my community.
I plan to major in business or sports management to help me pursue my career in golf. After college I plan to continue my golf career by becoming a class A Golf Professional. My dream is to specialize in developing young women's golf skills. This includes perfecting techniques in addition to connecting to young women on a professional and personal level in the golf community.
