I started swinging a golf club with my dad at the age of 5 and enjoyed golf camps and working with an elite team at Red Tail chosen by PGA pro Andy Morris. Then, the Covid shutdown gave me some time with Andy to really make progress on all aspects of my game. My Freshman year, I earned a spot on my 6A high school's varsity team and our team won the league title! My sophomore year, we won the league title again, took eighth at State as a team and I finished tied for 35th in the 6A tournament. Last, I played #2, behind my teammate and close friend Helen Brodahl who was 2023 6A Oregon State Champion and the 2022 runner-up. I achieved my goal of placing in the Top 25 in the State. I placed 23rd out of 88 participants, with scores of 91 and 87. Our team placed 7th out of 31 schools.
In order to keep up on athletic conditioning and also be a part of a bigger team, I lead the defense on the varsity women's lacrosse team. I've played varsity lacrosse since my Freshman year, with a strong commitment to balancing both varsity sports plus academics in the spring.
I scored 80 in the Oregon Golf Association (OGA) tournament at Glendoveer in June 2023, earning me 3rd place trophy. I scored 80 and won the OGA tournament at Santiam GC and placed 3rd at the McNary GC competition in August.
Last summer I again gave golf lessons as a Jr. counselor at Redtail Golf Center. I'm coaching them on golf fundamentals, while also teaching them values and lessons of golf, and not to hit each other with a sand wedge. Teaching golf makes me a better golfer and I enjoy playing rounds with my co-workers after the campers go home.
As a student, I love AP Government and also enjoy AP Psych. I'm fluent in French and finished AP French as a sophomore. I serve as Student Body President of our school of 1,600 students. In this role I work closely with the administration to plan multicultural events; food and clothing drives for homeless people and families; and voter registration drives to help students register to vote. I also work closely with athletic department and coordinate with the band, teachers, coaches and cheerleaders to elevate school spirit and bring hundreds of people to athletic events!
