Lacrosse has not always been my only sport. From a young age, I have loved to compete. I grew up in a soccer family with both my parents coaching me. I decided to pick up a few other sports when I was in 1st grade. This is when I first tried lacrosse. Ever since I first picked up a stick, my love for the sport and community has only grown.
I started to play club lacrosse when I was in 6th grade and I started attending Forsyth Country Day School since 7th.
Forsyth is a small, private independent school. This small yet competitive atmosphere has allowed me to play and start on my Varsity Lacrosse and Varsity Field Hockey team since middle school, while also playing 3 sports (including basketball and indoor track at one point). I still play for my school's field hockey team; however, I replaced basketball with indoor track.
Playing with older girls has shaped me to be the player I am today. This has also caused me to fully understand the importance of commitment and hard work. My school is small but our work ethic and competitiveness are not lacking. For both field hockey and lacrosse, we have won our conference for the past 5 years. This season, I was named captain of the varsity field hockey team with the accolade All-Conference.
Last fall, knowing I wanted to play at the collegiate level, my family and I decided to move club teams to a club 2 hours away. We made this decision for me to play in a competitive environment at larger tournaments. I was placed on a lower team because I was unable to attend tryouts; however, after the first tournament, I was moved to the elite team. This transition has helped me meet many new people and learn from multiple new coaches, which I am so grateful for. Despite moving clubs, I have remained close with my previous coach Lyndsey Boswell, the head coach at HPU, and continue to work with her individually and consult her for advice.
During my sophomore season, I was named Captain and I helped lead my team to a winning record of 17-5. I reached my 100th goal of the season and had 60 goals and 35 assists. We took a tough loss in the state semifinals; however, we will be back next year to win it all. I was named All-Conference and All-State for the 2nd and 3rd year in a row.
I want to find a school that will challenge me both academically and athletically. I am willing to put in the work to play at any division level. Every day I strive to become stronger, a better athlete, and a better teammate. I would be thankful for any school to consider me as a member of their community and team. Thank you for your time and consideration.
