My name is Alexandra Popielarz. I’m 5’5’’ and I weigh 144 pounds currently. I live in Gainesville, Florida and row at a small club called Gainesville Area Rowing. My adventure with rowing started four years ago when my family moved to Florida. Being on the rowing team thought me the value of hard work, teamwork, commitment as well as respect for my coaches and friends (crew members). Rowing is something I am very passionate about and would love to continue in college. I would love to attend college in Florida but I will seriously consider other location to advance my goals and skills. I am considering my major in kinesiology or health sciences. My biggest accomplishments in rowing so far are in my junior year. I was in a V4+ where we got 3rd at States and 5th at the South-Eastern Regionals. Also, as a part of the Novice 8, we won 1st place in the Novice Regattain Orlando. I was also competing this year at the Head of the Hooch in Chattanooga, TN in a pair and I got 5th overall out of 27 other boats. In 2015, I received the “Most Spirited” Award. This year I was given the responsibility of being a team captain and it has taught me leadership and how a team really functions together on and off the water. As a dependable, respectful team player that shows positive attitude not only during successes but learns from mistakes, it would be my honor to become a part of your team.
