Personal Statement

As an ambitious rower, my journey in the sport began three years ago when I moved to Miami, following the recommendation of a friend. While my achievements include medaling in prestigious competitions such as regionals and nationals, I find greater value in the connections created with my teammates and the personal growth I've gained through relentless dedication and perseverance.

My approach to rowing is defined by an insatiable drive to excel. Whether it's pushing for that extra stroke or committing to extra workouts post-practice, I constantly strive to surpass my limits and always aim to see how far my potential can go. Even despite a setback of illness last summer, I've emerged stronger, setting personal records with an aim to break 7:40 by the end of the season.

In both short and long-term perspectives, my aspirations extend beyond personal achievements. While I aim to compete at the collegiate level and eventually for a spot in the world championships, my journey is not only about individual triumphs. It's about contributing to the collective success of the team, fostering a sense of togetherness, and inspiring others through my commitment to always excel.

Balancing the demands of rowing with academics has been key to fostering a thirst for knowledge that mirrors my thirst to succeed on the water. Maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA throughout my rowing career shows my commitment to continuous growth and emphasizes my ability to excel both athletically and academically.

Beyond the confines of the boat, my role as the United Way student representative at my school shows my commitment to community service and giving back. This role has not only shaped me as an athlete but also placed in me a sense of responsibility and empathy, evident in my willingness to support teammates both on and off the water.

As I aim for my place in collegiate rowing, my ambition remains constant. I look forward to the challenges ahead, knowing that each stroke brings me closer to finding my full potential as an athlete.
