Hello Coaches,
I started rowing as a seventh grader in late 2020 and began competing about a year later. I joined the Whitemarsh Boat Club race team with one goal in mind: to lose weight. That had always been a struggle for me. However, as soon as I started rowing I fell in love with the sport and changed my point of view: instead of rowing to lose weight, I wanted to lose weight and be healthy to be a better rower. When I row, I feel like my whole body is relaxing and my mind clears. When racing, I feel completely engaged and "in the zone". At practice, I consider it a privilege to be in the boathouse and on the water, so I do my best to make every minute count and be as productive as possible. My team members are my closest friends. We are like a family - we trust each other completely, we work together and we care for each other. Rowing has given me everything: I got healthier, faster, I made friends, and gained confidence in myself.
In addition to crew, I play the violin as a section leader (2nd violins) in my school orchestra. I've been playing for 9 years which taught me how to work hard and be determined, skills I use at rowing every day. Thanks to violin I know what it takes to achieve goals: practice, practice, and some more practice! I am enrolled in the IB program at my high school. My plan is to get into a good college that will prepare me for law school. I'm also interested in architecture and am considering patent law as a future specialty. Most importantly, and as I've learned through rowing crew - I hope to become a productive professional and good person that contributes to my community and society. I appreciate your consideration to recruit me to your team: I know I will learn a lot and improve as a rower and human being and I hope to contribute as a valuable team member. Thank you for reviewing my profile, and I look forward to speaking with you!
