Hi, my name is Luella Bowersock and I am an incoming senior at Austin High School in Austin, Texas and captain of my rowing team.
I am going into my fourth year of rowing competitively and third on varsity. I am a very dedicated member of the team and have competed in many state and regional regattas, as well as 2021 Youth Nationals in our varsity quad, placing 11th overall. My first year on varsity I competed in our top quad and was selected to race at the San Diego Crew Classics until it was cancelled in 2020. This past year I raced in all of our varsity boats: the eight, four, and quad, and placed in all three in our Texas State Regatta (1st in the eight, 2nd in the four, and 1st in the quad by 27 seconds).
This summer I attended the USRowing ODP Camp and raced in the eight, straight four, and quad, placing first in all three.
I also competed virtually at the 2020 Youth National Championships in our top eight and placed 2nd overall with the time of 6:49.14 (weight adjusted times for the race). I’ve also won awards at the ends of both my varsity years, Best Attitude and Outside Workaholic for my 1.3 million meters I completed throughout our winter “off” season.
