I believe the comradery in a boat, crew team and crew program is not like any other sport. I have been involved in many different sports and activities all of which have been enjoyable and character strengthening, yet when I think about the sport that always keeps me coming back for more, it’s crew. I am a very competitive person and being a coxswain I may not be able to pull through the water to get my boat across the finish line but my drive and determination to succeed leads many of my boats to success. Having competed in many different races and achieved different titles I have really come to appreciate the sport and hard work all athletes put into it. My hopes for collegiate goals is to encourage my teammates, strive for the best and be a strong leader both in and outside of the boat. I constantly strive to uphold my integrity and really believe that out of anything your character sets a person apart. I am a hard worker, dedicated, trustworthy and responsible. I take charge when needed, especially in the boat which has been a real indicator of many different titles and awards I have received. My mens 4 placed first at Junior B Nationals summer of 2013 in New Jersey having been one of the largest divisions and heats competing nation wide. I received many titles at the Brentwood regatta for both mens and women of all boat sizes constantly being hot seated from one boat to another. I have coxed for a Masters 4 at the Race for a Cure through a 6K and was asked to attend Head of the Charles with them. At the time I was only a sophomore and the position was given to an older coxswain.Though I was flattered by the opportunity the chance for the other coxswain was very beneficial during her recruiting process as an older athlete. I am a strong academic student, having been in multiple AP classes throughout my high school career and as well a running start student. With a lot of hard work, time and dedication I will be graduating this spring with my AA and going into college as Junior standing. I am looking forward to continuous education in college, personal growth and the hopes of being a collegiate athlete as well.
