Personal Statement
My name is Jessica Brummett and I just finished my sophomore year at Wheat Ridge High School. I was introduced to soccer at an early age and began playing when I was 7 years old. Soccer became my passion, but it wasn't always so obvious for me. When I was 2, I started as a dancer and eventually added soccer to my schedule. When these two activities began to clash I had to decide between soccer and dance. To this day I am very thankful that I chose soccer because it has taught me so much. Soccer has helped to build my self confidence, work ethic, my ability to balance hard work and fun, time management, and I feel that it has made my life the best it can be. Soccer is a part of who I am and I know that I want to play soccer in college and beyond.
What makes me a valuable addition to any team is my mindset on and off the field. I love having a team to laugh and have fun with, but when it is time to step onto the field, I become the energizer on the team. Leading by example motivates me and my team. I love running and working very hard to show my teammates that the fight isn't over until the last whistle blows. I have been told that I am very coachable and I seek out and take advice from my coaches and teammates. The key for me is to that apply this feedback and constructive criticism to my training and then apply it to my game.
Building upon my love and passion for soccer, I know that one of the most important pieces to anything in life is an education. This is why when I am in school, I focus very hard on my studies to maintain my GPA before anything else. I am successful at balancing what I have on my plate, focusing on work and fun, studying hard and letting my energy out on the soccer field. Most importantly, I am always trying to do right by my family and friends, after all they are my support system.
