Makena McDermott '23 Recruiting Profile

My name is Makena McDermott and I am a 5’10” left-footed goalkeeper from Denver, Colorado. I am currently a Senior at Wheat Ridge High School, where I am ranked 8th in my class with a 4.41 weighted GPA and a 3.97 unweighted GPA. I play for REAL COLORADO’s OLYMPICO 05G team, and we will be moving from P1 to the USYS ELITE-64 National League in 2022-23 season. I also had the honor of being selected for the COLORADO SELECT ODP Player Pool in 2019.

Being a goalkeeper since age 8 has given me the confidence, perseverance, and skills needed to succeed in this high-pressure role. Over the years, I have developed my abilities to play under pressure, read the game, and be a leader to my teammates on the field. I have consistently been recognized for my foot skills, innate positioning within the goal and ability to inspire confidence from my teammates.

My goal is to play college soccer for a D1 school where I can succeed academically and also make a positive impact on the field. I am committed to working hard and being a positive force on any team I am privileged to be a part of.
